Blue Mountain

The snow at Blue Mountain was mostly melted, but the icy trails made up for it.

We had a small, but enthusiastic, crowd of participants on this day, and they were treated to a set of challenging courses, with two special ones modelled after the Billygoat!

For the shorter courses many groups made it out to Blue Mountain. White had some adventures with Elon and Grayson discovering  a snakeskin and old ground wasp nest (by far the coolest finds of the day). On yellow Summer Nelson and Estee Fleming came in first with a big gap.

On the short and long Billygoat style courses all competitors did an amazing job on a very hilly and difficult course. On the long, Ben Brady won with a speedy two hours. From the parking lot there was a great view of them stumbling uphill to their last control! Calvin Olson forgot to clear his epunch before starting and recorded a record long time of over 25 hours.

The college crew ran this weekend's even with Zariah Zosel event directing and Kate deBlonk course-setting. Ben Conley and Ben Brady therefore got roped into helping set out and pick up the controls! Big thanks to Allison Brown for showing us how the event computer works.

Next up, come check out a new map at Milltown on April 5! Additionally, from March 24 to April 28 we are hosting a beginner instruction series.

We are also continuing are our series of Tuesday night orienteering training, so let us know if you'd like to join the mailing list for that.
