The Seeley Lake Nordic Trails are perhaps the best trail system in our area, and we love coming here for ski orienteering.

We had a small, but enthusiastic, crowd of participants on this snowy day, and they were treated to a set of challenging courses, once again designed with the help of GrizO alum Jan Lauenstein, who is currently representing Switzerland at the Ski Orienteering World Cup races!

On the long course, Chris Chitty and Forrest Boughner had some blazing speed and would have had the fastest two times, had they remembered to punch the last control before hitting the finish in the heat of a head-to-head battle. They figured it out a few minutes after finishing and went back and got it. Still, really impressive performances from both of them! Euell Browne finished just behind the two of them.

We had two groups do the long course on classic skis, and they finished less than two minutes apart, with Rachel Kaufman and Stacey Miller just edging out Rosalee Elting and Julia Moravec. On the Medium course, Liam Browne was the fastest skater, and Allison Brown the fastest classic skier.

Allison was the event director for this event, with Kara Browne learning the ropes and taking over while Alli went out to ski. Chris Caldwell and Euell and Liam Browne picked up controls. Thanks to all our awesome helpers!

Our next event is scheduled for March 8 at Blue Mountain. If the snow conditions persists, we might consider converting to a SkiO at a different venue - stay tuned!
