Night Foot-O at the University of Montana Golf Course
Our planned Night Ski Orienteering event turned into a Night Foot Orienteering event due to lack of snow. The race was run as a mass start, with competitors scattering in all different directions once the start went off. We had a great mix of first-timers and experienced competitors, and saw some close battles on each of the courses. In particular, first-time orienteer Benjamin Halfar came 3rd on the Short course, finishing behind GrizO Youth Program members Kelli Fry and Mox Anderson. On the Medium course, GrizO newcomers Chris and Emma took first place ahead of Siri Christopherson.
Thank you to event director Emily Johnson and course setter Randy Tanner for making this event happen. We had a great crew of volunteers tonight. Calvin Olson and Tom Facey helped with setup and beginner instruction. Calvin Olson, Chris Caldwell, Loy Koch, and Greg Friedman picked up controls.
Up next is the Seeley Lake (hopefully) Ski-O on Sunday, February 25. Please note the new date!
