Blue Mountain Free Member Event

Over 50 GrizO members braved the chilly November day to check out courses designed by Ben Conley that started from the lovely upper part of the Blue Mountain map. In addition to designing the courses, Ben made plenty of map updates that were needed after the effects of this summer's wind storms.

With visiting orienteering friends from Louisville in town, Ben went above and beyond and designed a 10km+ Long Advanced course that proved a true challenge for all who attempted it. Ben Brady's winning time on the course was over 90 minutes!

On the other courses, it was a family affair, as mom Kaia Peterson was fastest on Advanced Beginner, and daughter Caroline Chitty took the win on the Intermediate course. A shout-out to first timer Ben Scott who won the Beginner course and followed that up with a 2nd place on Advanced Beginner.

As usual, we had a fantastic crew of volunteers helping make this event happen. Ben Conley and Zariah Zosel put out controls. Allison Brown took care of event management and direction with help from Kara Browne. Siri Christopherson helped with setup and beginner instruction. Calvin Olson helped with beginner instruction and control pickup. Susan Brett Davis, Nick Pence, and Ryan Dunlap all helped pic up controls. Ian Caragol and Nyika Campbell helped take down the event.
